First Aid for Child Carers
(Paediatric First Aid)

First Aid for Child Carers or Paediatric First Aid is a 12-hour basic training course especially for people who care for children in any setting.

It is suitable for all school staff, childminders, nursery and pre-school workers, junior church workers, sport and leisure staff, crèche leaders, parents and any one who is responsible for the welfare of infants and children.

This is an interactive course where course participants learn the skills of Paediatric First Aid - emergency care of infants and children in a low stress, friendly and positive environment.

First Aid for Child Carers satisfies OFSTED standards and also HSE recommendations for Appointed Persons in the workplace.

It meets the requirements for the CYPW Level 2 (QCF) units:

• Managing Paediatric Illness and Injury, and
• Paediatric First Aid.

The course is approved by the Pre-School Learning Alliance and the National Childminders Association.
